On May 15, 2008, His Holiness the Seventeenth Gyalwang Karmapa arrived in America. A few days later, on the holy day of Saka Dawa, His Holiness returned to his North American seat at Karma Triyana Dharmachakra (KTD) in Woodstock, New York, established by the Sixteenth Karmapa on Saka Dawa, 1976. This first visit of the Seventeenth Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje filled our hearts with limitless joy and our skies with magical rainbows. Many local people who were not on-site at KTD with His Holiness felt they received his blessings through these amazing rainbows.
Wishing to express our immense appreciation to our most precious guru the Seventeenth Gyalwang Karmapa, Karma Triyana Dharmachakra and KTD Publications, under the guidance of His Holiness Karmapa and the Venerable Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche, will produce Karmapa Celebration: Karmapa Comes Home, a book commemorating the joy and magic of the Seventeenth Karmapa's first visit to America. His Holiness Karmapa and Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche now encourage us to bring this project to completion as soon as possible.
