Khenpo Nyima Wangyal Rinpoche was born in 1961 in Nepal, the Tibetan refugee camp in Pokhara. (His parents fled Tibet through the Himalayas in 1959). Here she grew up with Nyima Wangy with her two brothers. He learned Tibetan letters and reading from his father. He was eight when his father left. Her uncle, Khenpo Khjungcun Dongrig Szonam Gyalcen, took over her education and traditional Tibetan education. Founded by Rinpoche. It was the first Bon monastery in exile.
