Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche is a teacher and author in the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Born in 1935 in eastern Tibet, Rinpoche was trained by many of the greatest Tibetan Buddhist masters of the twentieth century. After leaving Tibet in 1958, Tarthang Tulku taught at Sanskrit University in Varanasi, India, and began reprinting endangered Tibetan sacred texts. In 1968, he moved to the United States, where he has lived and worked ever since. Rinpoche has founded more than 20 organizations, preserving and promoting Buddhist wisdom both in Asia and in the West.
