The Complete Collection of the Treasures of the Palace Museum Volume 60, Beijing Palace Museum.
This book presents 260 of the best and most representative gold and copper Buddhist statues from the Palace Museum collection in Beijing. They were gifts to the Ming and Qing emperors, and most of them are published here for the first time. They show the effects, exchanges, and merging among Tibetan, Han, Manchu and Mongolian cultures and the brilliant achievement of Tibetan Buddhist art.

Each item was examined and certified as genuine by lamas during the Qing dynasty; inscriptions from that time detail the type of statue, its name, origin and time created. Having such a large number of inscriptions provides a reliable reference point for studying what Tibetan Buddhism looked like in the past, as well as understanding the origin, types and names of Buddhist statues of the time. They also present an opportunity to look at the development of Tibetan and Sino-Tibetan Buddhist statues in a systematic way.
