Description
 
Title given to teachers, masters and authors. Nowadays the term is used to refer to the academic degree of "Master." In Tibetan writings atsara is commonly used to refer to itinerant Indian yogins, much the way the word sadhu is used nowadays.

Atsara is a corruption of the Sanskrit word acharya.
