Science of Healing is one of the most comprehensive Tibetan medical guides to diagnosis by pulse and urine examination ever to appear in English. The twelve subjects of secondary examination focusing on such areas as the eyes, ears, and blood are also explored. For further insight, Dr. Dakpa includes Tibetan Medicine and the BDORT (Bi-Digital O-Ring Test), a talk he gave at the Sixteenth International Symposium on Acupuncture and Electro-Therapeutics at Columbia University. Dr. Dakpa offers a highly informative look into the diagnostic techniques of Tibetan medicine. While working as an assistant-cum-translator to Dr. Yeshi Dhonden, the former physician of H.H. the XIV Dalai Lama, Dr. Dakpa began to study Dhonden's patients and he quickly developed a fervent interest in Tibetan medicine. Soon after, he attended Men-Tsee-Khang, The Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute of H.H. the XIV Dalai Lama. Dr. Dakpa's experience aptly qualifies. Whether you are a physician interested in learning more about diagnosis through pulse and urine examination or a patient interested in alternative medicine, Science of Healing is an all-inclusive guide to understanding the symbolism, history, and modern-day applicability of Tibetan medicine.
