Her Eminence Jamyang Sakya is one of the few women Tibetan Buddhist lamas. She is also considered to be emanation of Tara, the Buddha of Compassion. With her album TARA MANTRAS, Her Eminence provides 50 minutes of highly sacred chanting completely dedicated to Tara, including both the "White Tara Mantra" and "Green Tara Mantra." The recording is predominately solo singing/chanting from Her Eminence, although Lama Nyima Gejie provides support on a couple of tracks and most begin and end with temple instrumentation (bowls, bells). This is a very beautiful and authentic rendering of the "Tara Mantras". All proceeds go to support the Mother Tara Sakya Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of Tibetan culture. 1. The Praises to the 21 Forms of Tara 9:48 2. H.E. Dagmola Jamyang Sakya (Sakya Dagmo Kusho) is the wife of H.H. Jigdal Dagchen Sakya and considered the "holy mother" of the Khon family tradition. As the niece of one of the highest Sakya lamas, H.E. Deshung Rinpoche, Dagmola, as her students and friends know her, had the unusual fortune to begin her religious training very early on. As a young woman, Dagmola received many important empowerments and teachings from many revered lamas.
Dagmola also came to the United States in 1960 with her husband and began life as a mother and householder. Because of her knowledge of Buddhism as well as her innate ability to guide and inspire people, both students and other lamas began requesting that she give formal teachings. Although reluctant at first, Dagmola is now one of the few female lamas widely giving teachings. She has co-authored a captivating book, "Princess in the Land of Snows," which is the account of her years living in Tibet, and is currently working on another book about her experiences living in America.
