Zen's parents decide that they would like Zen to learn a version of the lovingkidness meditation as soon as possible. Before bed, they begin to talk with him about loving kindness by using a book. They teach him to wish everyone, including himself, to be happy, healthy, safe, and at peace. Zen begins to understand how it feels to wish others well and some of the challenges in feeling compassion to those who may not be positive people in his life.
